The WHO will release its position statement on genetically modified mosquitoes for vector-borne disease control on October 14, along with its new guidance on ethics and vector-borne diseases. The publications are critical for the prevention and control of diseases such as malaria, as they will guide policymakers and other international organisation’s’ efforts. WHO’s Chief Scientist, Soumya Swaminathan, will host the virtual event, which will also gather other experts from the organisation, University of Oxford, Université Marien Ngouabi (Congo) and more.
