Integrating genetic approaches in the malaria toolkit

Le laboratoire Multilateral Initiative on Malaria (MIM) Society 8th Pan-African Malaria Conference (PAMC) is taking place in Kigali, Rwanda from April 21 to 27. As part of the event, the Outreach Network for Gene Drive research will be hosting a symposium titled “Integrating genetic approaches in the malaria toolkit”. The event, which will take place on April 26, 3:30-5:00pm CAT, will explore how gene drive technologies could be effectively integrated into malaria control strategies and the role of different stakeholders in achieving this.

The session will be chaired by Dr. El Hadji Amadou Niang, Pan-African Mosquito Control Association (PAMCA), and will feature presentations by Dr. Lucy Okell, Imperial College London, Dr. Damaris Matoke-Muhia, Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), PAMCA, and Isabelle Coche, Outreach Network for Gene Drive Research. Speakers will discuss the importance of collaborative efforts, effective governance, and strategic planning in harnessing the full potential of innovative genetic tools for a malaria-free future. There will be a Q&A session at the end of the event to allow for a lively exchange between participants and speakers.
