Brave New Planet is a new podcast series exploring the potential impact and inherent risks of new technologies that could shape our future as never before. The initiative is led by Eric Lander, Professor of Biology at Harvard Medical School and Director of the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, in partnership with the Boston Globe and Pushkin Industries.
In this November’s episode, all the focus was on gene drive. Scientists and journalists gathered to review the potential use of the technology to address biodiversity loss and control vector-borne diseases such as malaria. Proponents of the technology and opponents discussed the importance of gene drive, the science behind the technology and the challenges of implementing it.
The result is the episode “Reshaping nature through gene drives”, available here.
