Join the second session of the 2022 Gene Drive Webinar Series!

Join us for the second panel of the 2022 Gene Drive Webinar Series titled “Key Considerations for Risk Assessments of Gene Drive Technologies” which will take place on June 16^th at 2:00 pm Singapore time. The session will bring together an eclectic mix of researchers working on the topic as part of the Outreach Network’s efforts to contribute to an informed debate on gene drives.

Panellists will analyse the appropriateness of current guidelines, best practices, and gaps in the processes through which gene drive technology is being developed and implemented. Dr. Heidi Mitchell (Office of the Gene Technology Regulator) will discuss whether there is a need for new regulatory frameworks to ensure gene drive safety, followed by Dr. Vibha Ahuja (Biotech Consortium India Limited), who will shed light on capacity building for gene drive regulation. Lastly, Dr. Hector Quemada (Western Michigan University) will present an overview of gene drive risk assessment in practice. Dr. Saturnina Halos (Biotechnology Coalition of the Philippines) will moderate the session.
