The UN Development Programme (UNDP) and NASA’s Applied Remote Sensing Training Program (ARSET) will offer a 3-part webinar to introduce the UN Biodiversity Lab, which aims to provide key information on the Convention on Biological Diversity’s (CBD) Aichi Biodiversity Targets as well as on the nature-based Sustainable Development Goals. The training will teach participants about global biodiversity-based uses of remote sensing and how technology is revolutionizing the ability to map nature.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Registration for the courses in English<\/a>, French<\/a> and Spanish<\/a> is now open and training sessions will be offered on March 24, 31, and April 7, 2020. Discussions will focus on the SDGs 13 (combat climate change and its impact), 14 (conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development) and 15 (protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss).<\/p>\n

By the end of the course attendees will understand key global biodiversity and sustainable development policy instruments (like CBD and UNFCCC) as they relate to conservation efforts, have knowledge of spatial data on biodiversity and sustainable development, and be familiar with the UN Biodiversity Lab structure, data, and tools.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
